Tivoli For Now

I followed a cat through Tivoli,
musical fountains still etched
in my eyelids, completely content
on my own in Italy again. A man
will always buy you dinner in Rome
if you wish, but I will gobble
a panino on my way to an opera
in a church. For now, I stray
from the tour, chasing the gattino
hunting a fat, white duck, smiling
at being the hunter at least for now.
