Rome shows its edges in November,
crisp with the last bursts of pedestrian
energy, strutting from espresso to rosso
and early sunsets. Still easily smoothed,
like a fluff-tailed kitten, not quite ready
for a fight or a nap, the Via del Corso
crackles with holiday shoppers searching
for something they can't find at home.
I spun in sequence at the edge of a cliff,
collecting trinkets and snapping photos,
ready to return and begin again with you.
