Todi, Italy

Today, in Todi, is beautiful. I am not
there, but I know. The light slides slowly
up the buildings, like a satin slip teasingly
drawn from ankle up over shoulder,
until at noon she is brilliantly exposed.
She wears her age without defiance,
no question of hiding experience, no
need to shrink from who she is.
Once you have seen her, she will always
be beautiful.
