Paris

The clouds were banished and blue
commanded in the richest, regal hue
for those days spent doing nothing
and everything in Paris. Perched on bridges,
benches, behind fountains and filigree, I
fed minutes into meters and tried to truly see
the ecstatic effort behind just one ornate
facade. All polish and pencil skirts, the women
contrast starkly against my own earthy American
allure, and we eye each other, taking notes
and smiling without interpretation.
