Amsterdam

Dutch skies are bigger. Clouds
form ribs, stripes like a tiger
shark's flank, it could be
an ocean.  If you stare long
enough, you might start swimming.
You don't take blue for granted here.
The air is wet, and there are seagulls.
Two tourists sit where a homeless
woman covered herself in pigeons
ten minutes ago, and I wonder
who has used my seat since
the last rain.  Tomorrow I will
go somewhere.  The couple next
to me just bought Pampers and pot.
Welcome to Amsterdam.
